Nightlife Guide
Lovebanus.com's nightlife is the ultimate guide to the hottest venues for your nightime entertainment.....
Along with other Mediterranean resorts that seemed to have become a pale kitsch imitation of their 60s and 70s heyday (think St Tropez and Costa Esmeralda) Puerto Banus has bounced back as a desirable destination for the in crowd.
The Bar and Club scene in Puerto Banus provides something to suit your mood. Whether you want to Bling it like the Beckhams, sip sundowners on sheltered terrace, get intimate with an It girl, wax europhoric with the eurotrash or just chill with a cocktail, Banus has a venue for you!! So in no particular order here are some of our recommendations for you to enjoy the unbeatable Banus nightlife and all that it has to offer.
If you are going to enjoy the quintessential Banus experience then Sinatra’s has to be your first stop. Established in 1977, Sinatra’s has been the place to start your evening for over 30 years and in the height of summer the crowd spills onto the habourside. This is the place where Playboy F1 champion used to while away the afternoons taking on all comers at backgammon, while the yachties boozed at the bar. The interior although cramped, thankfully hasn’t changed since it opened and is all the better for it.
Overlooking the port's biggest boats you will find Pangea. This bar has massive rooftop terrace complete with a Champagne Bar and offers far reaching panoramic views of the port to the front and the beach behind and even as far as Gibraltar and Morocco in the distance. A must for anyone looking for a glamorous night in decadent surroundings.
Head a little further down the Port and you’ll come across News Café. Although it just looks like a typical Banus coffee place, upstairs at New Café is one the best and busiest clubs around, playing Old Skool, New Skool, R&B and Hip Hop with some of the best DJs around. This is another favourite with the 'celeb' crowd and the give-away is the numerous pictures that adorn the Cafe walls.
Duck onto the second line (through the archway) and you are entering what could aptly be described as Hurricane Alley or as we like to call it 'Party Central'.
Up the first set of stairs you will find a real favourite of ours in the shape of Zoo Lounge (above Pink). This bar is a no-nonsense party bar where the drinks flow and the tunes keep you entertained.
The first couple of bars that you will come across on the main drag are the infamous Navy Bar and its well know inhabitants and directly opposite is Old Joys which is a traditionally finished English Style Pub and also one of the oldest venues in the Port.
As you make your way along you will come to undoubtedly the busiest bar in the whole of Puerto Banus - the world famous Linekers Bar. This is a haven for Stag and Hen Do's and anyone else looking for a crazy night out. This is surrounded by their other sister venues, Portside offers a slightly more relaxed atmosphere and benefits from its own front line views - but don't be fooled this place still retains a great party vibe. The Lounge is a cocktail lovers heaven with a wide ranging drinks menu and outside terrace where you can watch the carnage of next door ensue.
Just next door you will find Seven, this souk themed club is part of the same group who also run Funky Buddha between Banus and Marbella, and is one of the most popular and trendy venues around and often attracts big name artists to perform.
A little further along are Desvan, which has occasional, live music and some pretty deadly shot girls and O Grady’s, a large and always popular Irish pub.
A couple of other bars worth a mention are Latinos (opposite Hotel PYR) which is owned by ex Spurs legend Vinny Samways and is home to Banus' only licensed Bookmakers. This bar is a Sports lovers heaven with a host of large screen TV's that show pretty much every live sports match you could wish to see.
XS Bar is located down in the port (behind News Cafe) and although small in size it's big on atmosphere. With reasonably priced drinks and a party vibe this is another must visit for Stag and Hen groups.
If you’re in the mood for dancing after this, then there are two great clubs within easy striking distance of Banus. TIBU is located in the main square, across from the huge department store El Corte Ingles. With Bublés restaurant next door and a covered terrace, it’s the venue that most of the Lineker’s crowd head to after closing. And as it’s open till 7am, there’s more than enough time to let the mayhem continue!
A 10-minute walk from Banus is Dreamer’s. The club celebrated ten years in Marbella in the summer and a sizzling line up of top DJs, internationally renowned promoters and an interior revamp ensure that the club continues to pack in the crowds. Busy, noisy and the perfect way to finish your evening in Banus!
